Abstract

|
The subject of geriatric psychiatry is medicopsychological disorders in old age.
In recent years, the evaluation and management of psychiatric illness in a geriatric population has received increasing attention stimulated by policy level of geriatric welfare and by an increasing understanding on the part of psychiatrist that much can be accomplished by modifying standard therapies to meet the special need of old people.
The author, therfore, presents the characteristics of the hospitalized elderly patients and general patterns of senile dementia.
